Photographed, edited, designed, printed, and bound during the 2015 PhotoNOLA festival, BRAS-COUPÉ marks the first ONE DAY PROJECT.

The book features photographs inspired by the Louisiana folk tale of Bras-Coupé, a one-armed runaway slave turned outlaw brigand. Multiple myths surround the character - from boogeyman to folk hero, talismanic figure to cautionary tale. The southern gothic tale led us from Congo Square to the swamps of Barataria, allowing us to wonder in the mysteries of forgotten history yet also reflect on how violence continues to be played out upon the black male body today.

Each handmade book, limited to an edition of 50 copies, will include a signed 5x7" pigment print by Eliot Dudik and Jared Ragland.
